After phylloxera destroyed most of the vineyards after World War I, the Kopp family bought three smaller wineries in Lamarque and Cussac Fort Médoc in the 1950s. Château du Retout is now run by daughter Hélène Soual and her husband Fréderic Soual.

In 2020, they equipped the technology with new stainless steel tanks (replacing those of 1973).

34 ha of vineyards + 1.5 ha of white varieties

Planted: 68.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24.5% de Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot

Harvesting: by hand

Ageing: 12 months in French oak barrels (from 9 different coopers), a third of which are new
